Hannah Bassey Faal is a Professor of International Eye Health currently working out of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. Her over five decades of work have spanned clinical ophthalmology, public health in eye care, and national eye care programmes of over thirty countries with a particular focus on communities and professional colleges and societies mainly in Sub-Saharan Africa.

She has continued to work with global bodies in eye health; the World Health Organisation, the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness and several institutions and non-governmental agencies with a targeted contribution to global milestones, eg The VISION 2020 The Right to Sight and the UN’s first resolution on eye health- VISION FOR EVERYONE passed at the General Assembly of July 2021. She has over 90 publications and over 5000 citations.
